AMIANAN kimono set in rabii black

AMIANAN kimono set in rabii black

PriceFrom ₱1,500.00

Our AMIANAN set is comprised of a mid-length kimono and shorts. It is made of matte charmeuse silk--a more expensive and durable upgrade to the commonly used flimsy satin. Our silk is also softer and a better insulator, with a muted sheen that makes it look more elegant.

The set makes use of inabel weave for its trim. Inabel which means handwoven or hand-loomed, is an indigenous textile from the Northern Philippines.

The rabii (night) black AMIANAN set features the Binakol weave from the Ilocos region.

THE KIMONO

The kimono top has two front pockets and is versatile and luxurious enough to be worn as leisure wear, on the beach as a cover-up or resort wear, or simply at home as loungewear. It comes in free sizing that comfortably fits all genders from XS to XL.

The kimono top also comes with a matching 3-inch thick multipurpose tie that can be used as a belt, headband, or whichever way you wish.

THE SHORTS

The silk shorts have two deep side pockets for your small personal belongings. Our silk shorts come in 2 adjustable sizes that you can choose from: Small-Medium, and Large-XL. The aptly gartered thick waistband makes the AMIANAN shorts wearable and adjustable for a wider range of sizes, and can be further tightened with a drawstring.

The AMIANAN silk shorts can be worn high-, mid-, or low-waist, depending on your style preference.

  • KNOW YOUR WEAVE

    • Binakol is one of the most recognizable indigenous weaves from the Ilocos region of the Philippines, characterized by its uniform, interlocked geometric pattern of squares and rectangles. The effect gives an optical illusion of movement as if a circle is radiating or expanding outward: a psychedelic optical art. Binakol’s distinct pattern is meant to represent the wind (alipugpog) and the waves of the sea (kurikos/kusikos) which are believed by indigenous peoples to drive away malevolent spirits. Depending on the dialect spoken or origin of the textile, its name slightly changes: binakol, binakul, binakael, or binakel.
    • Kantarines is an indigenous weave handmade on a small scale by loom weavers in Abra province, in the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Philippines. The Kantarines is best known for its striped designs - featuring stripes of various widths, colors, and combinations.
